Thomas Wilson Whiteside, age 71, of Leland, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6th, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington, NC.
He was born on December 31st, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA the only son of the late Thomas W. Whiteside and Alice Reinhard Whiteside.
Thomas enjoyed crafting fine woodworking, playing and watching baseball with his sons and grandsons, golfing, spending time with his three beloved grandchildren (Kales, Bubba and Sparky) and avidly studying Civil War history. He graduated from Lincoln High School (1964) in Philadelphia, PA and Hiram Scott College (1968) in Scottsbluff, NE. He raised his family in Bucks County, PA and spent his career working in the banking industry.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 50 years, Marcia M. Whiteside; sons, Todd (Dennie) Whiteside of San Diego, CA and Tyler (Nicole) Whiteside of Leland, NC and grandchildren, Kayley, Nolan and Grady Whiteside.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, February 18th, at 12:30 pm in the Magnolia Club Room at the Magnolia Greens Golf Course located at 1800 Tommy Jacobs Drive, Leland, NC, 28451.
Memorial Donations may be made to Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity or the Wounded Warriors Project in lieu of flowers.
