Charlotte Short
June 2, 1933 - February 16, 2023

Charlotte Rafael (Shoemaker) Short, 89, of Jacksonville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2023 with her family by her side. A native of Zoe, KY, she was born on Friday, June 2, 1933 to the late Glenn Earl Shoemaker and Delphia May Spencer. She was the widow of David Steven Short, spent her career as a bank teller and was a member of First Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, making bead jewelry, collecting recipe books, as well as red and purple glassware.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela S. Brinkley (William) of Jacksonville and Vick A. Short (Joyce) also of Jacksonville; daughter in-law, Peggy Short of NV; grandchildren, Michael S. Urton (Amy) of Wake Forest and Bryan D. Urton (Vanessa) of Flagstaff, AZ; great-grandchildren, Ian M. Urton of Austin, TX, Emma N. Urton of Wake Forest, Adriana E. Morales and Elijah D. Urton both of Flagstaff, AZ and Faith A. Onsgard of WY; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven M. Short; and her brother, Jack Shoemaker.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Potter’s House Church.

To know Charlotte is to know of her kindness, she was always willing to help her friends. She was a leader who loved her family and friends and supported them unconditionally. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
