Mirella Gurrola Sanchez, affectionately known as Mittie, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 72 at her home in Maple Hill, NC. She was born on November 14, 1951, in El Paso, TX to the late Arturo Gurrola and Socorro Irigoyen where she was raised and resided her entire life until she moved to NC to be cared for by her daughter.

Mittie had a fulfilling career, working as an Operator for AT&T and dedicating her time as a Catechist for Corpus Cristi Catholic Church back home in El Paso. Her commitment to her work was evident in her dedication and unwavering spirit.

Outside of her professional life, Mittie found joy in various activities. She loved volunteering at her grandchildren’s schools, cherishing every moment spent with them. Mittie also enjoyed going out to eat and socializing with her loved ones. She was the rock of her family, providing support, love, and guidance throughout their lives.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Surviving family members include her daughter, Maribel Parra (Gabriel), with whom she resided, and her son, Abel Sanchez (Berlin) of Arizona. Mittie’s love extended to her grandchildren: Andrew, Abel Jr., Patricia, Jacoby, Isiah, Eric, and Sabatian Sanchez, Peter Andazola (Eva), Eryka Andazola, and Joshua Monarez (Leslie). Additionally, she adored her great-grandchildren: Liam, Aubrey, Maddie, Ximena, Jayden, CJ, Gabriel, D’Andre, Deryk, Drevyn, and Arya. She also leaves behind a lifelong friend from childhood until the very end, Armida Ramirez.
