Deborah H. Godwin
October 25, 1953 - March 5, 2024

Deborah Horton Godwin, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 5, 2024, in Calabash, NC, at the age of 70. Deborah was born on October 25, 1953, in Whiteville, NC.

Deborah dedicated her life to education as a Teacher in the Whiteville school system, positively impacting countless young minds with her passion for learning. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the classroom, evident in her love for gardening, entertaining, and enjoying the company of friends while shopping and dining.

A graduate of Appalachian State University with a BA, Deborah embraced life with an infectious smile, kind heart, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and found joy in caring for her two beloved dogs, Stevie and Nick.

Deborah’s talents extended to the home, where she shone as a superb homemaker, gardener, and creator of incredible desserts. Most importantly, she was a cherished wife to David A. Godwin for 35 years, embodying love and devotion in all aspects of her life.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband, David A. Godwin, her brother Richard Horton and his wife Patsy of Wilmington, NC, her niece Amanda Marasco and husband Casey, along with their children Shane and Alaina Marasco.

Deborah Horton Godwin will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, as her legacy of warmth, generosity, and love continues to inspire those she leaves behind. May her spirit live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her presence.

The family will be available to receive friends from 1 pm until her service begins at 2 pm at Devaun Club House, 9220 Rivendell Place, Calabash.
