Durwood Wayne Hurst, born on March 31, 1954, in Durham, NC, passed away peacefully in Bolivia, NC, on July 19, 2024, at the age of 70. After graduating high school, Durwood proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1973 to 1977. Following his honorable service, he worked in construction building houses. After relocating to Calabash, he applied his
technical skills in Medical Equipment Repair. His last 15 years of employment were spent working in the tool department at Walmart.
Durwood was a man of diverse interests and passions. He had an enduring love for vintage TV shows like Gunsmoke, Andy of Mayberry, and all Westerns. Above all, Durwood was known for his gentle, peaceful, honest, and humble nature. He was a man with no temper, whose calm disposition touched everyone who knew him.
He married his high school sweetheart, Marsha, and together they moved to Calabash, building a life filled with love and companionship.
