Raquel “Rocky” Printup
April 5, 1973 - October 31, 2024

With profound love and heavy hearts, the family of Raquel “Rocky” Lynn Printup announces her unexpected passing on October 31, 2024, at her home in NC, at the age of 51. Rocky was born on April 5, 1973, in San Bernardino, CA, and throughout her life embodied the spirit of resilience, faith, and joy.

A woman of faith and inspiration, Raquel earned her Associate’s degree in Biblical Studies and Early Childhood Education, which was a testament to her lifelong devotion to learning and sharing her wisdom.  She was an active member of the Rapha Glory Experience, where her role as a Pastor illuminated her path as a guiding light to her community. Her commitment to her faith inspired many and left an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her.

Raquel was dedicated and passionate about developing young minds a she spent most of her career as an Early Childhood educator. She touched lives in Okinawa, Japan, while beside her husband who served at Camp Courtney. Their life together was filled with adventure, standing strong as they traveled from California to Japan to Virginia and North Carolina nurturing their family with boundless love and support for over 28 years.

Raquel’s interests were as vibrant as her spirit. She loved dancing, creating beautiful wreaths, shopping, watching “Hot Bench,” and enjoying scratch-offs. These simple pleasures brought her joy and connected her to those around her.

Raquel was preceded in death by her father, Rodney Overton; her father, James R. Johnson; sister, Tamika Overton; grandma, Shirley Kemp; grandad, Lester Wilson; auntie, Rhonda Wilson; Mother in Love, Maryland Printup and Best Friend, Antoinette Riddic.

In addition to her soulmate and best friend, her Rib, Henry Printup, her legacy continues through those she has left behind: her loving mother, Demorris Johnson; her cherished children, Deshawn Overton, Amber Lynn Murray and Alexzabian Murray, Keianna Printup and her adored grandchildren, Neriah Overton, Renee Lynn Jenkins, and Annaea Lynn Murray.

She is also survived by her sisters, Shakeema Overton, Rachelle Printup, Oneika Davis and Bobbi Torrence; brothers, Rodney Dean Overton, Sidney Printup, Larry Printup, and Theotis Strawder; her uncle, Dennis Overton and aunt, Michelle Hope Tabulla Overton; cousin, Eliza Overton; her God babies; Mozan Jasmine Buice, Jaydon Davis, Gabe and Mikey McKinney and many dear friends who were touched by her warmth and spirit.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Raquel “Rocky” Printup’s remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville-2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546. A Celebration of Life memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Bishop John R. Bivins officiating.

Raquel will be remembered most for being a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, treasured grandma and sister; also, an incredible pastor, God-mom, and faithful friend. Rocky was more than a list of roles; She was our guiding light, whose presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

In honoring Rocky’s life, let us remember her smile, her laughter, and the indelible mark she left on each of our souls. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

    Ms Raquel was a great woman, accepted everyone with open arms treated everyone like family, love to laugh and have fun just a joy to be around she will truly be missed !!!
