Alan “Russ” Lane
April 25, 1944 - August 11, 2022

Alan “Russ” Lane, 78, of Richlands passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on Tuesday, April 25, 1944 in Cortland, NY. He was the loving husband to Kitty Lane, who was the love of his life. He was a career truck driver and in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and cooking. His best dish was his sausage gravy biscuits and steaks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle Dowdle of Richlands; son, Donald Pratt (Amanda) of Richlands; brother, Gary Lane of Jacksonville; sister in-law, Doreen Rought of NY; brother in-law, David Hoover of NY; grandchildren, Destiny, Dohnavyn, Marah, Ella, Alyssa, Lyn-z (Terrance) and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Terrance Jr., Terralyn, Ariya, Ayden and Landon; a special niece, Tina; and his very best friend, Wiggles- He swore he’d never have another dog but she was a rescue dog that came into their yard after hurricane Matthew, she entered his heart and never left.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Betty Lane; and his sister, Sally Hoover.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date and announced by the family.

To know Russ is to know how giving he was, he’d give you the shirt off his back. He went through a lot in life, experienced more than most which made him the best person to get advice from.
