Aline “Scooter” Capps
April 16, 1966 - April 30, 2023

Aline Lynette “Scooter” Skenes Goodman was called to her heavenly home on April 30th, 2023 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Born on April 16th, 1966 in Guilford County, Aline was a native North Carolinian who epitomized the true nature of a rebel soul. Refusing to succumb to the challenges life threw her way, Scooter forged her own path of triumph over adversity, and freedom over surrender.

Throughout her life, Aline succeeded in the professional realm as a hard worker, and diligent manager that not only increased the ROI for firms in which she was employed, but also made a positive and lasting impact on the teams that she so fiercely led.  Scooter was an avid music lover with an eclectic taste that ranged from country legends such as Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt, to 90’s headliners such as Tupac and Tom Petty, and even modern superstars such as Toby Keith and Blake Shelton. Scooter exuberated an unyielding love for her friends and family. With her bubbly personality and zeal for life, she was most assuredly the life of the party.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Anne Moize Truitt, father Howard “Buck” Truitt, her brother W. Howard Skenes Jr., and her sister and best friend, Laurie A. Coble. Aline is survived by her loving and supportive life partner, Kevin Heitmeyer of Hubert, North Carolina. Kevin and Aline shared an unbreakable lifetime bond in which he always had her back, and she always had his. Together they shared adventures across the state, and enjoyed hosting family and friends during birthdays and holiday celebrations. Likewise, they both enjoyed playing with and enjoying life with their beloved dog Ranger. Kevin was unwavering in his dedication to Aline as he selflessly cared for her during both the good days and bad days of her extended illness.

Scooter was a doting mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two sons: Andrew S. King (and his wife Jaime King) of High Point, and John W. Shue Jr. (and his wife Jennifer Shue) of Reidsville. Likewise, she is also survived by her daughter: Jessica L. Staats of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was over the moon proud to be the loving “Nanny” to eight grandchildren: Lucas Dau, Meadow King, and Mallory King of High Point; Elizabeth, Jackson, Judy, and Elly’ May Shue of Reidsville; and Emily E. Staats of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Aline is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

The family would also like to extend a special word of appreciation to Aline’s former colleague, Dawn Moffitt. In our greatest time of need, Dawn has arisen to the occasion to assist in not only the detailed planning of the memorial services, but also in loving and emotional support during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, located at 1005 NC Highway 61, Whitsett, NC 27377, and officiated by Deacon Fred Younger.

“It is joyous, in the midst of perilous times, to look around upon a people united in heart, where one purpose of high resolve animates and actuates the whole–where the sacrifices to be made are not weighed in the balance against honor and right and liberty and equality. Obstacles may retard, they cannot long prevent the progress of a movement sanctified by its justice, and sustained by a virtuous people. Reverently let us invoke the God of our fathers to guide and protect us in our efforts” – President Jefferson Davis
