Alvin, Thank you for all the laughs and smiles you shared with me. I will always remember our nights sitting on the front porch at Angela & Tony’s house, talking and laughing for hours. I loved hearing all about your adventures and how much you loved your children & wife.
I am so blessed to have met you and so grateful that I got to spend time with you.
    You will truly be missed…”Pops”

My sincere condolences Angela, Tony, Carla, Jr, & Cassidy.

Uncle Alvin is half the reason I chose to move here. My senior year of college, a professor suggested grad school. It was not the original plan. I remembered a school my dad and brother and I drove by when we swung through NC a summer I was 16. And I Googled that school on a whim, and it had an awesome creative writing program. Because I loved my Great Aunt Pauline and Great Uncle Alvin – they babysat me growing up and Aunt Pauline made the BEST spaghetti (heralding down from our great-grandmother) – I applied there. The rest is history. Although I regret not visiting my uncle as much as I wish I had, I have so many good memories with him. He was a storyteller; a big personality; enjoyed good food, the Rat Pack, and Dean Martin; and had a soft heart (he fed squirrels from his slide door and would often ask me for books on them when I worked at Barnes & Noble). Much to my surprise, he and Justin worked at different times for the same limo company in Charlotte, and I enjoyed introducing the two of them and sharing stories and Italian sandwiches. You will be missed, Uncle Alvin. Love you so much!!! We will meet again!!!
