Artis “Pete” Harrison Sr., 78 of Leland, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his home. Born on October 17, 1938 in Coffee County Alabama to the late Arcus and Audrey Harrison.
Pete will be remembered for his generosity and love for his family. Two of his favorite things to do were working on cars and fishing.
He loved NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves, if either were on television, you were sure to find him watching and he would have possession of the TV remote.
Pete leaves behind to cherish his memories his brother Eugene Harrison of Georgia. and sister Helen Moore of Alabama. He also leaves three of his four children: Sandy Alford and husband Joe of Florida, John Harrison and late wife Tammy of North Carolina, Karen Harvey and husband Scott of Virginia. Grandchildren: Michael Owens and wife Heidi, John Harrison Jr., and fiancé Chloe, Jessica Harrison and her fiancé Michael, Joshua Harrison and his wife Clarissa and Julia Harrison, Dave Messer and Kaylee Beers and husband Caleb and nine great grandchildren.
Pete was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Callie “Sue” Harrison, his son Artis Harrison Jr., and brothers’ Collis, Bill and Burrin Harrison.
The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Hospice for their love and care given to Pete in his last days. A special thank you to Jessica Harrison and Chloe Benjamin for all you have done for our family, words cannot express our gratitude.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6 PM to 8 PM at 1013 Town Creek Rd. NE, Leland, NC 28451.

He was a sweet man.
I will always cherish my memories of Pete and Sue and all the fun and happy times spent with them and their family. They loved to play poker and always had a jug of change hoping to get a game started. I know that Heaven has gained another angel who will watch over his loved ones and will rejoice with the ones that went before him. I will always remember and love you Pete.
