
Mrs. Audrey Linda (MacAulay) Connell passed peacefully, with her husband by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer on September 4, 2016, in Little River, SC at the age of 75.
Audrey is survived by her dear husband John F. Connell, Jr. (Jack) of Little River, SC and Cape Cod, MA, her daughter Jacquelyn Renee Stathopoulos of Cape Cod and her sons, John Connell III of Bethel, ME, Allan M. Connell of Conway, SC and James B, Connell of Niles, MI, Her beloved sisters Rita Correia, Florence Fields and the late Jean Perry. She was “Nana” to her precious grandchildren and great-Grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Audrey was born in Attleboro, MA to parents Allan and Eleanor (Jones) MacAulay. She graduated from Barnstable High School in 1959. She went to work for New England Telephone as an operator. She spent many years as a rest home administrator and advocate for the needs of elderly and disabled. Audrey was a past president and chair of the Mass Jr. Miss Scholarship Pageant in the 70’s.
Audrey was a talented and skilled scrimshaw artisan as well as a painter on-canvas. She traveled extensively with Jack while he was employed in the airline industry, but the two most enjoyed traveling the eastern seaboard with their children and grandchildren. She leaves her family rich with these memories, Audrey was a dedicated member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in N. Myrtle Beach.
Services will be held in both N. Myrtle Beach, SC and Barnstable, MA. The SC Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, September 11, 2016, at 3pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. The MA Celebration of Life will be held October 15, 2016 at 2pm at St Mary’s Episcopal Church 3055 Main St. Barnstable Village, MA, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Audrey’s life. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer
