Captain Bruce Maddox, born on September 16, 1950, in Port Huron, MI, passed away on December 3, 2023, in Little River, SC. He was 73 years old.
Bruce was a remarkable individual who embraced life with passion and determination. As an entrepreneur, he thrived on the challenge of building businesses from the ground up. His unwavering spirit and innovative mindset led him to numerous successes throughout his career.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bruce had a deep love for the sea. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and found solace as a charter boat captain. There was something magical about setting sail at dawn, with the sun rising on the horizon. He said it was the best time of day… when the world was at peace. In those peaceful moments, Bruce felt connected to the world around him.
Bruce’s family and friends were an integral part of his life. He shared 44 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Virginia Maddox. Together, they created a loving and nurturing home. Bruce was tremendously proud of his son, Bruce W. Maddox Jr., and cherished his daughter-in-law, Heather Maddox. His grandson, Charlton, brought immeasurable joy into his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Bruce is survived by his brother, Craig Maddox, and sister, Susan Sommers. He was preceded in death by his father, M.W. Maddox, mother, Rosemary B. Maddox, and sister, Linda Maddox Graham, all of Arizona.
A memorial service will be held in the spring for friends and family to come together and celebrate Bruce’s remarkable life. Though we mourn his passing, let us remember Captain Bruce Maddox as an inspiration to us all, a man who fearlessly pursued his dreams and found solace in the beauty of nature. May his legacy live on in our hearts forever.
