Clarissa Crockett Vaughan, born February 11, 1968, spent her last day on Mother Ocean with friends, sun on her face, wind in her hair, and salt on her skin. Clarissa had the special gift of lighting up a room with just her presence. To know her was to be loved by her. Our Mermaid is swimming with Mother Ocean. Clarissa had a passion for Hospice care and spent several years organizing annual Chili Cookoff to benefit hospice. In lieu of flowers: Donations to Cape Fear LifeCare foundation: https://lifecare.org/donate/
Arrangements are in the care of Coastal Cremations of Carolina Shores.

I met Clarissa when I was walking my dogs by her house! She said who are these two? I said did you really just get a dog leash out of your mailbox!? We talked for a while & would always look foward to seeing her! Such a BIG heart and awesome soul……
Clarissa was always such a bright ray of sunshine. I remember her always smiling with such a positive outlook on life. She was a beautiful person who was really special to me. It’s terribly sad that she’s gone. We loved you, Clarissa!
Clarissa was a light on this island. Her absence is felt in the neighborhood already. Her kind and generous soul always made me smile.
This is so sad to hear- but what a beautiful picture of a beautiful soul! I remember that smile! She was the best babysitter my brother and I ever had as kids- we loved Clarissa!!!
Clarissa was always bubbly! So dear to us as she baby sat my kids, Christina and Scott back in Wilson. Such fond memories of such a beautiful spirit, fun loving, caring dear young girl! Her smile and laugh was a bright light in any room. Your star will shine brighter now in the hearts of those you left behind. With sympathy to Terri and Vanessa
