Cleve Eugene Johnson
August 17, 1968 - August 9, 2023

Cleve Eugene Johnson, loved son, brother, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 9, 2023 in Bolivia, NC. He was born on August 17, 1968 in Brooklyn, NY. Cleve lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He was 54 years old at the time of his passing.

Cleve had a passion for sports, particularly Philadelphia teams. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers, as well as the UNC-Chapel Hill Tarheels. Among his favorite players were the legendary Jermone Brown, Michael Jordan, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, and Ken Griffey Jr. The color Carolina Blue held a special place in his heart, and he took pleasure in engaging in friendly banter or “talking junk.”

He graduated from West Brunswick High School as part of the Class of 1987. Cleve’s journey of faith led him to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior later in life, providing him with strength and comfort.

Cleve is now reunited with his daughter, Ny’Asia Johnson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Graham Johnson and Lydia Pearl Frink, as well as his grandparents, Earl Frink and Mazzlee S. “Mama Mack” Frink.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Kourtney Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Antwain Johnson, and D’Kyra Simmons; a grandson, Troy Johnson, his siblings Denise Frink and Randy Jenrette (bonus brother); aunts Julia Faye Frink, Juanita Frink, and Thelma Gordon; uncle Alonzo Terrell; nephews Lee Johnson, Altrey Frink, Dominoque Johnson, and Demetrius Johnson; niece Bryiar Gibbs; special family members Ida Jenrette (bonus mom), La’Monica Hill (Goddaughter), Ashley Proctor(bonus daughter), Keith Hill (bonus son), Sharon Williams, Andre Edge, Kem Frink, Randy Jenrette; Jocelyn Frink, Marc Dubose, special friends Ronald Gore, Freddie Johnson Jr., Christopher Johnson; special friend Alexandra Acevedo; and bonus sons Sebastin Acevedo, Darriel Acevedo, and Dardwin Acevedo, and special cousin Tonya.

Cleve’s warm smile, infectious laughter, and kind-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will forever be treasured, and his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those he leaves behind.

May his soul find eternal rest, and may his family and friends find solace in the time they shared with Cleve Eugene Johnson.
