Cressie (Wright) Bennett
November 7, 1947 - June 6, 2022

Cressie Mazelle (Wright) Bennett, loving known as Franny and Mema, 74, of Jacksonville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2022 with her husband by her side. She was born on Friday, November 7, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Richard Wright and Lillie Covington. She was the loving wife to Clifton Bennett for 51 years.

She spent her career as a Ceramic Teacher/Instructor having worked at Camp Lejeune Ceramic Shop, New River Air Station and New River Rec. Center. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Excelsior Chapter #305: Order of the Eastern Star, Lewis-Mango Assembly #316: Order of the Golden Circle, Gore and Maryanna Court #16: Heroine of Jericho, Brown and Jenkins Court #6: Ladies of the Court of Perfection, Armor of God Court #10: Cyrene Crusader and Arabian Court #52: Daughters of the Imperial.

In her spare time, she enjoyed watching old martial arts movies, western movies, doing arts and crafts, playing with her dogs, dancing, modeling and performing for Showtime Productions, above all, she loved her fishing!

She also enjoyed working with the Jacksonville Young Marines and the Trenton Young Marines. During her 15 years of service, Mrs. Bennett was awarded a Golden Lifetime Membership Pin for volunteering over 4,000 hours by President George W. Bush and another pin by President Barack Obama. Her biggest surprise was being the first to receive the Humanitarian Award, celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 21, 2013.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 4 beloved children, Russell Wright and his wife, Isina, Alexandria D. Holder, Antonio Wright and Carla Thomas and her husband, Robert; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Wright, Danielle Wright, Lauryn Wright, Richard Holder, Jr. (Allyson). Ashly Holder, Ronnie Lee, Jr. (Cheryl), Cheyenne Greene (fiancé, Jordan Colon), Aquie Wright and Shawn Wright; and by 10 great-grandchildren, Noelle Holder, Isabella Holder, Kiron Johnson, McKenzie Holder, Malia Holder, Chance Wright, Journee Wright, Caden Haddock, Roman Shamar Lee and Kehlani Colon.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 11:00 o’clock in the morning at Faith Outreach Ministries, 703 Aragona Blvd, Jacksonville, NC 28540.

To know Cressie is to know how she liked to have fun no matter what she was doing. She will be remembered for her eyes and how she would look at you; her smile, hugs and laughter but most of all, for her big heart she had for everyone.
