Curtis Freeman Clark, aged 65, of Greenville, North Carolina, passed away on April 9, 2024, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Curtis was born on October 11, 1958, in Greenville. He was a loving husband and father, his greatest joy was watching his son grow into a kind respectful man. A devoted friend. Curtis loved to talk to people and teach them about all that he knew. He was always willing to listen and give advice.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lisa Flynn Clark; one son, Benjamin Stone Clark; both of Wilmington and a sister, Phyllis Farmer, of Matthews. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Benjamin Clark; mother, Lula Mae Freeman Clark; and sister, Gwyndolyn Clark.
Curtis had a fulfilling career, serving in the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department from 1981 to 1997 and later at xpedx, a Division of International Paper, from 1994 to 2019. He received his Basic Law Enforcement training at Cape Fear Community College after attending Sunset Park Primary School and John T. Hoggard High School. Curtis was an active member of Lifepoint Church serving on the security team.
In his free time, Curtis enjoyed anything outdoors like hunting, fishing, shooting sports, metal detecting. He also loved playing guitars and drums. He helped coach his sons baseball teams through the year.
A Celebration of Life service will be held, with details to be announced later.

I am so sorry to hear of Curtis’s passing. He was a great guy and friend, We had some great times when we worked for NHSO. He will be truly missed. Prayers for Lisa and Ben,
Curtis was a great guy and he will be greatly missed. I didn’t know him for long, but I’ve witnessed him be patient with other people and show respect for all the different types of people he came in contact with. A great man that has left us too soon.
