Dana Allison (Reekstin) Younger, born on November 19, 1970, in Sharon, Massachusetts, peacefully departed this world on November 10, 2024, at her home in Jacksonville, North Carolina, just shy of her 54th birthday.
Dana dedicated her life to the service and care of others, spending an incredible 30 years as a nurse. Her career culminated at Onslow Memorial Hospital, where she was a valued member of the Emergency Room team, known for her compassion, skill, and calming presence in the most critical moments. Before her tenure there, Dana offered her expertise and loving care as a nurse in Columbia, Tennessee, touching countless lives with her nurturing spirit.
Outside of her professional life, Dana’s soul found joy and peace by the ocean. She was a passionate surfer, feeling truly alive while riding the waves, and an avid treasure hunter and antique collector, finding beauty and history in the forgotten and lost. Her love for reading transported her to different worlds and times, fueling an insatiable curiosity and a deep appreciation for stories both real and imagined. A devoted spiritualist, Dana was constantly in tune with the universe, guiding her family and friends with wisdom and light.
A loving wife to her beloved husband, Andrew “Drew” Younger, and a devoted mother to her cherished sons, Nicholas and Alexander, Dana’s family was her greatest treasure. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Rebecca Forbes and Kate Forbes of Wisconsin, Kelly Brookshire of Canton, and her sister of the heart, Hillora Lang. Dana’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, Dana’s spirit will forever resonate through the crashing waves, the pages of a good book, and the laughter of her family. Details of her memorial service will be announced at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life beautifully lived.
In lieu of flowers, Dana’s family asks that you honor her memory by embracing life’s adventures with the same passion and warmth that she did.
