Darlene (Duncan) Valentine
September 1, 1974 - November 17, 2024

Darlene Marie (Duncan) Valentine, born on September 1, 1974, in Torrance, California, tragically passed away in an automobile accident on November 17, 2024, in Hubert, North Carolina, at the age of 50. Her journey through life was characterized by a kind heart and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone she met.

Darlene was a beacon of warmth and joy, known for her quiet yet funny demeanor. Though she may have been shy until you got to know her, her smile could light up a room, and her laughter was both contagious and unmistakable, a sound that will echo in the hearts of those who knew her. She had a gift for random conversations that could turn any moment into one of connection and meaning.

Her passions were as diverse as they were inspiring. Darlene found happiness in the simple act of cleaning, bringing order and beauty to her home. Music moved her soul, while the beach was her sanctuary, a place where she could find peace and relaxation. An advocate for a healthy lifestyle, she embraced exercise with enthusiasm, danced through life with grace, and cooked meals filled with love and care for her family- best known for her pot roast and banana pudding.

Darlene lived in Woodbridge, Virginia, before calling Jacksonville, North Carolina, her home. Darlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville, where she found community and faith. Her spiritual journey was a source of strength and guidance throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Pecola (Osborne) Duncan. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her surviving family: her husband of 26 years, Juan Valentine; daughter, Lisa Valentine; and her son, Ricky Valentine, all of Jacksonville; her father, Harold Duncan; her sisters, Tessa Ross of Tennessee, Teresa Ambrosiano of Florida, and Pricilla Conley (Danny) of Kentucky; her brothers, Donald Duncan of Virginia and Bryan Duncan of Alabama; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held on December 7, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville.

In honoring Darlene’s life, we remember a woman whose kindness, laughter, and love touched everyone she met. Her legacy inspires us to embrace life with the same joyous spirit and to cherish the simple, beautiful moments that make life extraordinary.
