David Michael Michaels, also known as Dave to his friends and family members, was born on January 15, 1964 with his twin brother Joseph to his mother, Jacqueline Marie Jackson and his father David Stanley Michaels in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was just 60 years old when he departed this earth to be with the Lord. He passed away on August 1st, 2024 from stage 4 lung cancer.
David was a very loving and caring man. He always put the wants and needs of others above his own. He was a compassionate problem solver and if he couldn’t fix something for someone then he would find someone who could. It didn’t matter if you were a friend, a family member or a complete stranger, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. David was a family man and one of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his family. Whether they were fishing, golfing or just sharing a meal and spending time together, he cherished every moment he had with them. He loved them all so much. From his wife Dorreen, to his daughter and son-in-law Keilah and Josh and their precious children Beatrice, David and Sophia. They all had top priority in his life and a special place in his heart. David’s love for family overflowed to his brother Joe, his mother Jacki, his many in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family members as well. They loved him dearly and will miss his lively, genuine and joyful spirit. David was a storyteller and his memory will live on as we continue to tell and find comfort in his stories.
David was also a devoted man of God. He enjoyed attending Centerview Baptist Church with his family and loved to participate in the plays the church put on. He loved speaking to others about the Word of God. He wanted very much for others to love and follow Jesus, so he played an active role in outreach programs through his church. His hope was that not even one soul would be lost or separated from Jesus.
David had many hobbies throughout his life and found great joy in coin collecting, golfing, building and racing cars at Rocky Mountain National Speedway’s dirt track, and going to see the Colorado Avalanche play. Go Avs! Above all of these things though was his love of fishing. His favorite spot was on the pier where he could often be found with his family. He loved teaching others about his fishing techniques and telling stories about his fishing adventures. He even had the hobby of creating his own lures!
In his younger years David graduated from high school and continued to take college courses that pertained to his different careers. The last position he held was for the Onslow County Jail as a Fiduciary Manager for TKC Holding.
David was generous…
David is survived by his loving wife Dorreen Michaels, his daughter and son-in-law Keilah and Josh Johnson, his grandchildren Beatrice, David and Sophia Johnson, his twin brother and sister- in-law Joseph and Correen Michaels, his mother Jacqueline Jackson and countless other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father David Stanley Michaels. As believers in Jesus Christ his family is assured that they will see him again in heaven so instead of “Goodbye” they would simply like to say, “See you soon!” What a blessing he was to all of us while he was here.
The funeral services for David Michael Michaels will be held on August 31, 2024 at 11:00am, hosted by his church: Centerview Baptist Church, 1165 Piney Green Rd., Jacksonville, NC 28546.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers over the last few months while David was fighting cancer and also now as they grieve. Each and every prayer is felt and cherished.

I just found out about this…. Came as quite a shock. David had a big heart…. a kind heart… and a great sense of humor. He and I just talked just a few weeks ago… Some folks wear their faith on their sleeve… David demonstrated it in his actions… He was a good man… He will be sincerely missed by many. JM
So sorry to hear that Dave has passed.
