Dixie Batchelor Jarrell
January 2, 1936 - July 3, 2022

Dixie Batchelor Jarrell 86 passed away Sunday July 3, 2022 at Davis Health Care.

She was predeceased by Husband Claude Jarrell and were happily married for 48 years; Parents Leonard and Pearl Batchelor; Brother Doug Batchelor.

She is survived by her Sons Howard Jarrell of Walnut Creek, CA and Phillip Jarrell of Wilmington, NC; Grandson Sam Jarrell of Oceanside , CA and loving Nieces, Nephews and Cousins; Brother-in-Law Billy Jarrell (Louise) of Wilmington, NC; Sister-in-Law Jean Batchelor of Tallassee, FL.

Dixie was a life long resident of Wilmington and was a graduate of New Hanover High School. She was strong in her faith and was an active member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church for many years.

In her early years she and Claude enjoyed fishing on the piers at Wrightsville Beach. As her family came along, she was very supportive of her sons in their endeavors with Boy Scouts. As the family matured, she loved to entertain and especially cook dinners for the boys and their friends. All the while she loved gardening, especially tomatoes in the summer and collards in the fall.

Her pinnacle was hosting, with Claude, the Thanksgiving oyster roasts for family and friends. Guests came from all over, many flying in from states away, all looking forward to the weekend long event. It was a loving and casual affair where everyone was welcome at Dixie’s house (and nobody went away hungry).

She was loved by many and will be missed by all!

The family would like to thank the staff at Davis for the wonderful care that was given to Dixie, it will forever be appreciated!

A graveside service will be held at 11am, July 15, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington NC 28403.

Coastal Cremations 6 Jacksonville Street, Wilmington NC 28403
