Donald Ray Johnson was born in Lamesa, TX on February 25, 1951 to the late Pearson Madison and Lena Mae Johnson. He was raised in Lubbock, TX where in 1969 Don Graduated from Lubbock High School. His caring ways, his friendship to everyone he met and best of all he was a wonderful husband to Penny. His loving and faithful wife of almost 9 years. Don and Penny had known each other since they were in the 4th grade but, as circle of life comes around they reunited 10 years ago on Classmates.com.
Don was smart, sensitive, kind, silly, and caring. He actively researched and contributed to thousands of entries on Ancestry.com. This was his passion! He was proud to learn of his grandfather fighting in the Civil War on the Northern side.
Unfortunately, his health started to deteriorate just after Hurricane Florence in September of this last year. He suffered multiple health issues and set backs and as his heart became weaker so did Don. Sadly, our beloved husband, father and dear friend left this earth on January 22, 2019. We will all miss him dearly.
Survived by Don is his wife, Penny Terry Johnson; two daughters, Dorothea Giardono and Melissa Butterfield; Three grandchildren, Trystan, Caleb and Noah Butterfield; and his sister, Carolyn Smith.
