Wilmington, North Carolina – Gerry Lee Greenwood passed away peacefully September 14, 2024, with family at her bedside.
Gerry was born in Vallejo and raised in Arcadia and Fair Oaks, all in Calif. She was a good athlete, playing both high school and college volleyball.
She married her high school sweetheart, Chriss Roediger, in 1965. He was a US Army captain and helicopter pilot. He died in Vietnam on a search-and-rescue mission in 1969.
Gerry married Cliff Greenwood in 1975; they were both involved in education – teaching and administration.
Gerry accepted the Lord Jesus in 1981. Cliff and Gerry began attending a wonderful spirit-filled church in Sacramento, Calif. Cliff passed away in 1998. Her ministry took her to many cities including Redding, Calif.; Kansas City, Missouri; and Wilmington, North Carolina.
Gerry is survived by her siblings Suzanne D’Arcy (Jerry Yanowitz), Melanie D’Arcy-Odom (David Odom), Richard D’Arcy, Mark D’Arcy (Janet) and Eric D’Arcy.
She is preceded in death by her husband Chriss Roediger, her husband Cliff Greenwood, her parents Robert and Sibyl D’Arcy, and her sister Lisa Marie D’Arcy.
Gerry’s celebration of life service is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, 2024, 1:00 PM Eastern time at Global River Church, 4702 South College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28412. The service will be live streamed on YouTube and Facebook – search on “Global River Church Wilmington” or “Celebration of Life for Gerry Greenwood.” Alternatively, at GlobalRiver.org, select the YouTube or Facebook icon.
Gerry’s last days this side of heaven were at the Dr. Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion, a non-profit in Wilmington, NC. Donations supporting hospice in Gerry’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 (LifeCare.org).
