Gordon Berg
September 5, 1927 - August 12, 2022

Gordon William Berg, of Swansboro, NC Passed away on August 12, 2022. Gordon was born in Kharagpur India, of missionary parents, August Berg and Ruth Johnson Berg who were from Worcester, MA. Gordon attended boarding school at Woodstock school in Darjeeling until his parents returned to the U.S. in 1941. Gordon graduated from North High in Worcester. MA. After receiving his master’s degree in the teaching of math from B. U. he taught at the high school and college level for 29 years.

Gordon married the love of his life Carol Elisabeth Wells in 1967, and they just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 1st. Gordon and his family lived all along the East coast, from Bar Harbor, ME to St. Augustine, Fl. Never one to pass up an opportunity, they moved often and always lived in homes with fantastic views. After retiring from teaching his family bought and operated small businesses in ME, FL, and NH. Their first business was the Bluenose Motel which at the time was a 20-unit motel on a hillside at the entrance to Bar Harbor. While in St Augustine they bought and operated the popular “Cap’s on the Water” restaurant for 4 years. After selling Cap’s, they built the Inn at Camachee Harbor, a 19-unit Inn overlooking a 300-slip marina.

Gordon is survived by his patient and devoted wife Carol Wells Berg, two caring sons Larry and Matt and four grandchildren: Nick, Walter, Sarah and Khloe.

He was predeceased by brothers Rev. Roger Berg, Dr. George Berg, and Arvid Berg

We remember Gordon fondly. Gordon ( and Carol) were great team mates and opponents on the paddle tennis courts of St Augustine. So fun to play with and always ready for a quick banter ! Gordon ( and his brother Arvid) were true gentlemen and sportsmen. Carol, our condolences all the way from St Augustine. Bob and Liz
