Helen Jean Taylor, 94, of Shallotte Point, NC, formerly of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away January 11,
2017 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice House in Bolivia, NC.
She was born December 12, 1922 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas and Lil
(Rothermund) Scheehle.
In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, William A. Taylor, sons William “Bill”
Taylor and John “Jack” Taylor, and siblings, Betty McConville, Robert Scheehle, Jack Scheehle, and Joan
Campbell.
She is survived by three of her five children; Jeffrey Taylor of Strasburg, VA, Diane Madison of Shallotte
Point, NC, and Matthew Taylor of Reno, NV. Helen is also survived by two of her six siblings, Blanche
Hagan of Thornville, OH and Alice (Vince) Lucarelli of St. Clairsville, OH, and many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Helen graduated in 1939 from Martins Ferry High School at a young age of 16 because, as she never
missed an opportunity to remind her family, she was able to “skip the 4 th grade.” She was a former
member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, OH. In her later years she enjoyed traveling to
visit her children and grandchildren around the country. She also enjoyed playing BINGO, gardening and
sewing. She was affectionately known as the “Apron Lady” at the Shallotte Farmer’s Market where she
sold her handmade aprons for the past 8 years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at Calvary Presbyterian
Church, St. Clairsville, OH with Rev. Terry Lucarelli officiating.

Your family was one of the first neighbors we met back in 1963 when we moved to Virginia and there were plenty of fun times and happy memories. My sympathy to you and and my hope is your fun memories will bring some laughs and comfort!
