James Daniel Rogers Jr.
September 11, 1960 - April 29, 2024

James Daniel Rogers Jr., better known as Dan, of Hampstead, NC passed away on April 29th, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice House. He was born in Clinton, NC on September 11th, 1960, to Judy (Sholar) Chadwick and the late James Daniel Rogers Sr. Dan lived a full and rather adventurous life, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication to one’s country, and deep love for his family and friends.

After high school, Dan joined the United States Military. In his career with the military, he held the distinguished titles of Army Ranger, Scout Sniper, Firing Party Commander in the Old Guard, Squad Leader for the Scout Unit with the Multinational Force and Observers, and Instructor for Officer Training School. Every mission assigned was completed with undisputed bravery and skill.

Following the military Dan furthered his education and earned his degree in the field of Civil Engineering from Midlands Technical College. Dan was an outdoors man at heart. He was an avid hunter, award winning angler, skilled diver, and loved being on the water.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Debbie) Rogers of Hampstead, NC, and his 5 children whom he was immensely proud of, Zach Kane Rogers of Algona, IA, Seth (Ashley) Rogers of Algona, IA, Connor Rogers (Breanna), who lived with Dan and cared for him in the last stages of his illness, Cody Rogers (Danielle) of Hampstead, his original baby girl, Cassidy Rogers of Hampstead, his precious infant grandson, Theodore Phillip Rogers.

In addition, he is survived by his mother, Judy Chadwick (Warren,) his siblings Sandra Butler (Don) of Hampstead, Mike Warren (Lisa) of Clinton, and Don Bilodeau of Key West, FL. He is also survived by his beloved bonus mom, Nancy Rogers of Clinton, and his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who are like family to the Rogers.

A Celebration of Life for Dan will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 am at Wilmington National Cemetery, with full honors rendered. Dan’s final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery where he once served in the Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.

Dan’s unique personality left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was loved deeply and described as curmudgeonly, goofy, sassy, and oh-so stubborn, but always a joy to be around. James Daniel Rogers Jr. our father, husband, grandpa, brother, son, and friend lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He will be eternally missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
