James Everett Robbins, Jr., 60, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2021, surrounded by family following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Waco, Texas, on July 30, 1960, to James Everett Robbins and Wanda Rose Scales.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, William (Tex) Robbins.
Everett grew up in Hickory, N.C., and graduated from Hickory High School Class of 1978. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he became a Hospital Corpsman. Following his Naval career, Everett was employed as a flight attendant for Spirit Airlines where he advocated for his co-workers as a union representative. In Wilmington, Everett was a beloved employee of Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Cardinal Health where he made many friends. Everett was truly the life of the party, a sweet, caring spirit who was always up for an antiquing jaunt. He loved a good story, a great brunch, and the company of dear friends.
He is survived by his siblings, Danny Compton (Linda) of Pocahontas, Arkansas; Sara Rose Bryant of Valdese, NC.; Jean Robbins of Belmont, NC.; and Jerry Robbins (Jamie) of Conover, NC., as well as special friends, Mary Starnes of Hickory, NC, and Nicholas Wilson of Wilmington, N.C.
A celebration of life (facial masks requested) will be held from 4-6 p.m., August 7th at 1711 Chestnut Street., Wilmington, N.C.
