James Travis “Trav” Cureton
March 11, 1973 – November 22, 2022

Travis Cureton, Wilmington, NC, was a passionate and creative master carpenter in residential
construction. A lover of music, he was a talented drummer and guitarist. He played in many bands
throughout his life. Travis was bold and daring. He could deliver on the most challenging springboard
dive or skateboard trick and received many awards in various competitions.
Travis loved his family and friends, his dogs, and Star Wars!

Travis’ energy and laughter lit up a room. His light-hearted compassion brought warmth to those
fortunate to know him. He will be greatly missed.

Travis’ memory will live on in those who knew him. He is survived by long-time partner Michelle Clayton
and her children Tori Kelly and Coby Clayton; daughter Kahla Ann Cureton; mother Jean Marshall
Cureton; father James McCracken (Sandra) Cureton; sisters Cinnamon Frame (John Wood) and Paige
Cureton (Jeremy Shelton); niece Skye Frame (Andrew Vitkus); nephew Dillon Frame; aunts Janice
Cording, Sybil Bridges, Ann Cox, and Judy (Bruce) Brewer; uncle Michael (Liz) Gray; and many cousins and friends.

A celebration of life to be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Friends of Wilmington
Skate Parks or the Surfrider Foundation.

    Travis, you lived your life the way you wanted and your kind heart led the way. I always considered you as an extra son spending time with Mark and John at my house. We all loved you and you will be missed. You left too soon. God bless your family. Rest in peace.
