Jason “Jaz” Kenz, of Maple Hill, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Born and raised in western Massachusetts, he was the loving husband to Teshenna A. Newton and the son of Darlene Thompson and the late Theodore Kenz.
From his younger days his love for music drove him to incur himself into the Dj and music production world. During his young career he founded Lumberjack Records. Leading him to work with the likes of Dj Revolution, Danny Dan “The beat man”, Show, Big Foot, Biz Markie, Lord Finesse, D.I.T.C, Mr. Me, Taino and Horace Brown. Also releasing compilation albums like Dusty Finguers, Lumberjack break beats and more. From his record label he expanded to graphics and printing services working with the biggest musical companies like Sony Music, Bad Boy Records, Def Jam and more. He was a very intelligent person, organized and meticulous about his work.
In his spare time, Jaz traveled a lot and loved to eat nice food, play poker and smoke a good Pedron cigar.
Jaz and his wife built a poker league “Dogs playing poker” in Richmond, VA.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching TV, traveling, especially to Washington, DC and was a connoisseur of good cigars and French cuisine.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by many extended family members and friends, including his 2 best friends, Juelz “Tiano” and Mike Salvini.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jaz created a lot of history while living on this earth; he was multi-talented and great at everything he did, no matter what it was. Jaz enjoyed his life and met many friends along the way while traveling and having fun. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

My dear son in law, will be missed dearly by all who knew him, I am very thankful for the times that we all got together as a family we had a lot of laughs, and eating seafood, so on behalf of johnson/Henry family you will be missed
