Jeri Lynn Balcom
October 13, 1980 - February 1, 2022

Jeri Lynn (Banzer) Balcom, 41, of Jacksonville passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Duke University Hospital. A native of Portland, OR, she was the loving wife to her soulmate, Brian Scott Balcom and the daughter of Gary Banzer and Lori Barnard. She went to school to be a Surgical Tech until she became a mother, her children were her life. Jeri enjoyed going to the beach, being amongst nature and gardening. She was a big animal lover who jokingly earned the title of “squirrel whisperer.” She was also known to watch her “murder shows” trying to figure out “who did it?”

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her children, Alexis Shainamae Casanova, Owen Bradley Balcom and newborn, Piper Wren Balcom; and her brother, Steven Syverson.

A private service will be held at a later date.

To know Jeri, is to know how much she loved her family, her children meant everything to her. She was an introvert, a homebody with a sarcastic sense of humor. She will be forever missed by all who loved and knew her.

My deepest condolences to the Balcom Family and to Jeri’s family. I did not know her that well, but just from some of the things I knew about her, she was every bit a dedicated, loving mother and wife as well as a true lover of nature. May memories of her forever live on through her family.

From the handful of times I met Jeri and the stories I’ve heard about her, she was everything mentioned above. Caring, funny, a lover of animals and an all around good person. May her memories live on forever through her family and give peace to them as well. My deepest condolences to her family.
