John Stephen “Steve” White, age 72, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Steve was born on December 30, 1951 to Ellis and Pearl White who were better known as Skip and Sammy.
Steve is survived by his wife, Vicky Evans White; daughter, Stephanie Rogers of Baltimore, MD; son Paul White and wife Holly of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Austin and Haley Ransom, Logan and Mekenzie Rogers and Jacob and Addison White; stepdaughter, Tabatha McCubbins and husband, Jesse; stepson, Ben Jones and step grandchildren, Camille and Bailey Marshall and Kayden and Grey McCubbins Cheyenne and Sierra Rogers; brother, Paul White and wife Vickie of Bradenton, FL and three nephews and their families. Not to be left out, his canine companion, Greta, whom he loved dearly. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Karie Ransom, his brother, Stewart White and sister, Susan White.
Steve was an auto mechanic and owner of Affordable Auto Service, before retiring in February of 2018. Steve was always willing to help and from time to time past coworkers or friends would call with questions and he would gladly offer help. Steve had many accomplishments in life but he did have his share of struggles. He left this earth sober and clean but it was something he fought each day with the Lord’s help. He had a quick wit which was very evident in most conversations and interactions as he loved to talk with people. Steve loved to dance and did it well, and that is how he and his wife, Vicky, met. Steve had the biggest heart for people and animals, especially his best girl Greta – he often said because she didn’t “nag”! He cared deeply for his family and friends and was always willing to do what he could to help others. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart, his church family at North Pointe Community Church, his group at Celebrate Recovery at Life Church who met on Monday nights and his Pool League friends. Steve also met with An Amazing group of men on Friday mornings ant Atlantic Bread that made had a great impact on his life, last but not least
Wednesday morning with his dear friend Chad at Port City Java.
Steve will be missed terribly by many but we are thankful to know he is in Heaven and we will see him again.
A memorial service celebrating Steve’s life will be held on January 6, 2024 at 3:00 pm at North Pointe Community Church, 4490 Gordon Rd., Wilmington, NC.
