John “Tommy” Williams
April 18, 1953 - March 2, 2022

John Thomas Williams, better known as Tommy, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer, with loved ones at his side. Born April 18, 1953 in Martin County, NC to the late John Henry Williams and Lillian Russell Barnes. He attended Pamlico County High School and then worked alongside of his father and step-mother building Williams Seafood of Arapahoe.  He worked as a commercial fisherman for over 20 years.  He was of the Christian faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and was known to take off on a whim. He was an avid pool shark and a bit of a gambler.  He loved being on the water and enjoyed fly fishing.
He is survived by his significant other, who has stood by his side for over 10 years, Mary Henderson; beloved daughters with Linda Allen, Christina Warren (Johnny) of Vandemere and Melissa Meadows of Reelsboro; grandchildren, Ashley, Spencer, Brittany and Allen; his step-mother Mavis Powell Williams of Arapahoe; sisters, Deborah Williams and Jackie Owens of Leland; his brother, Ricky Williams (Debbie) of Wilmington; and step-sisters Sherre Midyette (Jerry) of Arapahoe and Gail Faust (Paul) of Reelsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in-law, Richard Meadows; sister, Priscilla Graham; and brother, James Williams.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2pm at Goose Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2017 S Goose Creek Rd, Grantsboro, NC 28529, with Rev. Cindy Midyette officiating.
To know Tommy, is to know how much he loved his children.  He will be irreplaceable.  He practiced hard work and generosity.  He was a gentle, wise man with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all that loved and knew him.
