Joseph Llaneza

Joseph L. Llaneza, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024, in Nakina, North Carolina, at the age of 90. Born on June 22, 1933, in England, Joseph lived a life filled with love, dedication, and passion.

After serving with the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, including 14 months in the Korean War, Joseph embarked on a successful career. He worked as a purchasing agent for General Electric until 2003 when he made the decision to move to the South. Joseph then dedicated the next 15 years of his life to Columbus Hospital, where his hard work and commitment left an indelible mark.

Joseph had a zest for life that was evident in his diverse interests. He was passionate about running and completed numerous marathons, showcasing his determination and perseverance. An avid reader, Joseph found solace and joy in the pages of books, expanding his knowledge and imagination. Additionally, he enjoyed the elegance and grace of ballroom dancing, finding delight in the rhythm and movement.

Joseph is preceded in death by his wife, Joan, who passed away in 1979, and one child. He leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends. Joseph’s memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Judith Corridon Llaneza, and his six children, whose lives he touched deeply.

A funeral Mass in honor of Joseph’s life will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Route 17, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, symbolizing Joseph’s generous spirit and desire to help those in need.

Joseph L. Llaneza will be remembered for his unwavering love, his adventurous spirit, and his dedication to family and community. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
