Joyce Vernette Chambers, age 83, died on Monday, February 14,
2022, Valentines Day with the love of her family surrounding her. She was
born September 14, 1938, in Bismarck, North Dakota; the daughter of Fred
and Pearl Kisser.
She married Harold William Chambers, Sr., on April 7, 1956. She is
survived by her husband, son Harold Chambers Jr., (Mishelle); daughter
Susan Horne (Benjamin); Andrew Chambers (Linda) and Timothy
Chambers. She was also blessed with 7 grandchildren.
Harold & Joyce’s love affair began on Valentines Day when Harold
noticed a young girl walking home crying; he asked her what was wrong.
She said her legs hurt so bad she could barely walk. He then put his fishing
gear aside and put her on his bicycle handles and took her home. Their
long-lasting true love lasted 66 years.
Joyce was a loving, caring and gentle person. She would say true
treasures are in the heart – her most valued treasures being Jesus, husband
and family. Her biggest treasure was being a prayer warrior in always
fighting the good fight of faith; never ceasing to give up keeping people
forever before the face of our Father in Heaven.
She loved flowers and traveling in the mountains. Her favorite foods
were spaghetti and meat loaf. She also liked to play solitaire and Bejeweled.
Joyce, or Nan, as she was called by so many family members will be
missed very much but kept in our hearts and memories forever.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday,
February 26, 2022, at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, 800 Piner Road,
Wilmington, NC 28409.
The family truly wishes to thank and acknowledge the loving care
with which Mom Chambers was given at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in her
final days. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lower Cape
Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401 or online at
their website which is giftoflifecare.org.

May Joyce find peace in Heaven with our Father. May the family find solace through Jesus Christ our Lord. May we all remember who died for our sins.
May God grant you all peace and comfort in your precious memories. Aunt Joyce will be greatly missed. Her laugh was contagious and always reminded me of Grandma Kisser. Her reunion with Grandma and Grandpa Kisser as well as her brother, Marv, (my dad) and her sister, Shirley must truly be a sight to behold. Rest easy in the arm of Jesus, sweet Auntie.
Our prayers are with you. We love you guys and know Aunt Joyce will be missed. May God’s peace rest on you all.
