Kalliope Terri Kissell
June 29, 1958 - December 29, 2023

Kalliope Terri Kissell, better known as “Nana,” passed away Friday, December 29th, 2023, at the age of 65. She was born on June 29th, 1958, in Joliet, IL, to Thomas Alambis and Mary Sue Chandler.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Walter Kissell Jr., her children, Kallie and Monty Smith, Matt Kissell, Wally and Jessica Kissell, and her great niece, Ashley Kissell. She is also survived by her biggest pride and joy, grandchildren Kalista, Kelly, Stella, Sydney and Joel, Erica and Keyhamis, Madison and Fred, Peyton, Isabella, River, and NiKlaus, as well as her great-grandchildren Xander, Mia, Léo, Kash, Kahlani, Royal, Ella, and Michaiya. Many sisters, nephews, and nieces will remember her as well.

Nana graduated from Green Sea High School in 1976 and went on to hold many careers, including working as a CNA, substitute teacher, and store manager. However, she would say her greatest accomplishments came in her work as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Nana cherished every moment with her family, especially the Sunday dinners and fish fry get-togethers. She played a special role in teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she loved to pile up in the car and take on adventures. Nana’s kindness, heart, and huge smile will be remembered forever.

A Celebration of Nana’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at Friendship Baptist Church in Ash, NC. 2546 Ash-Little River Rd., NW.

In lieu of traditional floral arrangements, should you choose, you may bring potted plants and small flower bouquets or make a donation to Friendship Baptist Church
