Layla Mae Kennedy, 8 months, Jacksonville, North Carolina, died on August 1, 2019
Layla was the daughter of Kendra Mae Kennedy and Bailey Quinn Kennedy
Layla Mae is who her parents would name a perfect angel and a miracle baby. She had a very early and tough start to life. Layla was born 3 months earlier than she was supposed to. Spending 2.5 months in the NICU, Layla finally got to come home. After everything, all she was was full of life. Everyone adored her and wanted to steal her away from her parents. Even some NICU nurses wanted to take her. People were amazed and proud to see her progress on a daily basis. Once Layla turned 7 months old, she and her parents moved to North Carolina where they were station due to her dad being in the military.
Everyone will remember Layla by what she went through at the first start of life and the challenges she accomplished after coming home. People will cherish her smile the most.
Survivors include; Layla’s mother and father, Grandmothers; Kristie Carnes, Heather Kennedy, and Stephanie Cooper, Grandfathers; Justin Cooper and Wes Carnes, Niece to Kolt, Codi, and Harley Cooper, Tea, James, and Ethan Kennedy, and so many more family and friends.
Special thanks to the Brian East Medical Center in Lincoln Nebraska for saving this little girl at the start, and to everyone else who has helped and saw Layla in her life. Layla Kennedy may be gone but will never be forgotten. She has imprinted on our hearts forever.

Sweet Layla. I am still at a loss of words since you have been gone. I will always remember the sweet smiles you gave me in the NICU, it was always a high light of my shift. You gave light to the world, to your mom, and dad and that light will always help the world to shine brighter, even though you aren’t here to see it. As said above you have imprinted on so many hearts, your life short as it may have been has blessed so many. ?
I’m so sorry for your loss. Sweet Layla was such a joy. I loved seeing how much she grew each time I stopped in her room. You are all in my prayers.

Sweet Layla girl. You were such a sweet baby. I’ll never forget the first time you stayed awake during the entire care time and just stared at your mama. Your mom and I both cried. You had so much personality in that little 1 pound body, The bond that you and your mom had was remarkable. She dedicated her life to you. Kendra and Bailey, I am so sorry for your loss. Layla Mae was such a special little girl. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
