Linda (Willis) Hagood, 81, of Sneads Ferry, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at her home. A native of Goldsboro, she was born on Thursday, June 19, 1941 to the late Nathan Make Willis and Vera (Harding) Willis. She married the love of her life, Ray W. Hagood, on Friday the 13th in May of 1966, most said they’d never make it but they proved them wrong with 56 years of marriage. Linda previously lived in LaGrange, NC where she was a long-time hostess and waitress at Murry’s Seafood and BBQ. She was of the Baptist faith and in her spare time, she enjoyed doing yard work and baking; she was most known for her blueberry muffins and banana pudding.
She is survived by her husband, her loving daughter, Lori Wheeler of Sneads Ferry; dog-daughter, Dixie Lee and grand-dog, Peanut. There are many surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, and even family not by blood, that she loved and held dear.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jack Shelton; and sisters, Betty Barbour, Joyce Godbold and Vanessa Willis.
A memorial service will be held at Folkstone Original Freewill Baptist Fellowship Hall on Saturday, Jan 7th at 12:00 PM. Friends and family are all welcome to join in sharing memories and love. Food will be served.
To know Linda was to know she was a feisty 5-foot little lady, but she found true enjoyment in taking care of others. Her family was her love and life. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Arrangements are in the care of Coastal Cremations and Funeral Care of Jacksonville.
