Lisa Blackwell Simon
October 25, 1957 - March 19, 2022

Lisa Marie (Blackwell) Simon, 64, of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2022 at home, surrounded by people she loved. Born October 25, 1957 in Cook County, IL, she was the widow of Kenneth W. Simon,  her best friend,  whom she was married to for over 32 years and she was the daughter of the late Arthur R. Blackwell and Geraldine (Holpuch) Blackwell.

Her favorite job in the world,  was being a loving wife,  mother and Grandma. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing solitaire, watching her crime shows, especially NCIS and tending to her plants, long conversations with friends,  and laughing with her kids until she cried.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel P. Blackwell and his wife, Jaclyn of Jacksonville, Lindsey Simon of East Chicago, IN, and Ashely Simon of Jacksonville. She loved being a mother,  but once she became “Grandma” the apples of her eye, were her grandchildren, Sierra, Brynn, Dean, and MaKenzie. She was the little sister to Daniel K. Blackwell, of North Aurora, IL. Her dog Gounda, was the furry love of her life.  She loved that dog like she was her child.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Logan; grandparents, Gerald and Ruth Holpuch; and her uncle, Robert Holpuch, Mother-in-Law Sonia Mahler, and aunt, Phyllis.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and announced by the family.

To know Lisa is to know how much of an extremely loving, selfless and giving person she was, her heart was bigger than she was. She was full of jokes with a sarcastic sense of humor. She was rather introverted until she got to know you, then she wasn’t afraid to let loose. She will be remembered best as a “stubborn little Irish woman” and the “gadget Queen.”

She will be forever missed by all who loved and knew her.

I miss you every single day. More today than I did yesterday , but not as much as tomorrow. The world seems a lot bigger without you and Dad. Your absence hurts immensely, but the memories I have of you soften the blow a little bit. Only a little. I find peace in that you’re with Daddy again. As well as both grandma’s, your daddy, Logan, and all of our fur babies. I know how much you missed dad and grandma. I’m just glad you’re free of pain and sorrow. But a girl will never not need her momma. I got lucky when God chose you and dad to be my parents. I love and miss you both to no end. I miss your goofy little self, so much! You were truly a beautiful person and an incredible mother💙 until we meet again

Love always, your little girl, Ashley Anne
