Margaret “Peggy” Hollen, age 79, of Wilmington, NC passed away
peacefully on March 14, 2024 after a two year battle with cancer.
Peggy was born on July 26, 1944 to George and Katherine Seuffert in
Altoona, PA. After Peggy graduated from Altoona High School in
1962, she went on to study radiologic technology at Altoona Hospital.
After graduating she worked at Altoona Hospital and Lewistown
Hospital, PA, before moving to Wilmington, NC in 1982. There she
worked at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for over 35 years.
The last years of her career she worked in MRI, a field she genuinely
loved.
Peggy was a beloved girls softball coach for 13 years with the Winter
Park Optimist Club. She was one of the first female members of the
club. She loved coaching the 10-12 year old girls and frequently
treated them to a ride home in her convertible.
Peggy was a founding member of the Coastal Carolina Curling Club.
She always hoped to try curling and at age 67 her wish came true
when the Coastal Carolina Curling Club was founded. Peggy was the
first Bonspiel Chairperson and continued in this role for many years.
Peggy enjoyed traveling to other clubs and competing in their
bonspiels. She loved the social aspect of curling and the many
“curling buddies” she made over the years.
Traveling was a great passion of Peggy’s. She visited 44 countries
and all 50 states. Peggy could talk to anyone and made many
wonderful friends along the way.
Most of all Peggy made us laugh. She was a fun-spirited person
who’s sense of humor touched everyone she met. Her playful
personality endeared her to family and friends.
Peggy is survived by her lifelong friend and companion, Norma Baker,
her son George (Rachel) Hollen and her sister Pauline Schill; three
grandchildren Alexis (18), Christian (13), and Landon (12). Peggy is
also survived by her nephew Brian (Lisa) Schill and niece Debbie
(Leslie) Sheesley. Peggy was lovely know as “Aunt Bubba” to Brian,
Debbie and their children.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents George and Katherine
Seuffert and brother-in-law Terry Schill.
Peggy will be greatly missed by the extended Baker family who have
treasured sharing life and laughs with Peggy for over 40 years.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Peggy at
Bluewater Waterfront Grill, 4 Marina Street, Wrightsville Beach on
Sunday, March 24 from 1 to 4 pm.
In remembrance of Peggy, charitable donations can be made to the
