Michael Barger, born on September 12, 1955, in Jackson, MI, departed this world on December 2, 2023, in Wilmington, NC, surrounded by his loving family. At the age of 68, Michael left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Michael’s work experience was centered around his passion for General Construction. He dedicated years of hard work and took immense pride in every project he completed. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail were evident in his craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in various hobbies and interests. He loved spending time on the golf course, casting his line while fishing, and embarking on hunting adventures. As a loyal fan, he avidly supported the Carolina Panthers, always cheering them on with enthusiasm.
Michael’s greatest achievement was his family, whom he cherished dearly. He was blessed with the love and companionship of his wife, Cathie Ewing Barger, for 42 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and countless memories.
Michael was the proud father of three children: Andrew (Kayla), Stephen, and Michelle (Brian). His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to five adoring grandchildren: Kaylee, Caleb, Carrie, David, and Opal. He treasured every moment spent with them, creating lasting bonds that will forever be cherished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oakley and Cora Collins Barger, as well as his brothers Donald Clay, Joe, and Charles, and his sisters Joyce Ann, Sandra, and Kathleen. Although they are no longer with us, their memory lives on in Michael’s heart.
Those left behind to honor Michael’s legacy include his brothers John, Frank, and Lester, and his sisters Patricia, Nancy, and Diana. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Mike. Let’s not forget his loyal companion, his dog Blue, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at a later date. As we gather together to honor his memory, let us remember the man who touched our lives with kindness, love, and inspiration. Michael’s spirit will forever guide us as we navigate this world without his physical presence.
In remembrance of Michael Barger, may we carry forward his legacy of hard work, passion, and devotion to family. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and his memory will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace, dear Michael, knowing that your loved ones will keep your spirit alive.
