Mr. Clarence Lester Barber, Jr.
November 14, 1943 - May 23, 2020

Clarence Barber, Jr. 76, of Leland, NC, formerly of Liberty, NY, was called home to be with his Lord on May 23, 2020, he passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. He was born November 14, 1943 in Port Jervis, NY to Clarence Barber, Sr. and Marie (Hathaway) Barber.

Clarence was a 1960 graduate of Liberty Central High School in Liberty, NY.

He owned Barber Construction and worked 30 years for the Town of Liberty, serving as Highway Superintendent for 8 years.

Clarence was a Little League Coach, loved traveling especially to Cape Cod, MA, enjoyed a cabin and boating at Lake Wallenpaupack, PA, supported local bowling and was very talented with wood-working.

He served his community with dedicated membership with:
St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Liberty, NY
White Sulphur Springs Fire Department for over 50 years; as past Secretary, Vice President, President and Chief
Sullivan County Fire Police Association
Sullivan County Sportsman Association
BPOE Elks Lodge 1545
New York State Highway Superintendents Association serving as President

Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Maureen (Meachum) Barber, loving companion Samson the Pug; children: Deani Helupka Campo of Port Jefferson, NY, Shari Arbus of East Patchogue, NY, Sandi (Beach) & Doug Bardwell of Leland, NC, Charlie & Lynne Barber of White Sulphur Springs, NY, Chris & Lisa Barber of Melville, NY, Tim & Tania, of Oyster Cove, NY, Samantha (Beach) & Del Goble of Willard, NC.
Grandchildren: Angela & Daniel, Tristan, Jessica & James, Ryan, Kayla, Kasey, Nicole, Ashton, Tyler, Talia, Sophia, Taya, and Trey
Great Granddaughters: Emma and BrookLynn
He was predeceased in death by his parents and Grandson, Cody Goble.

    Marie,, So sorry to learn of Clarence’s passing. A person I will always be fond of. A real fighter; kept this illness at bay for along time! Clarence will be missed by many.

    Our deepest sympathies to the Barber family. Clarence was a great guy, awesome highway Superintendent. Very community minded. He will be sorely missed by many. RIP Clarence.
