Muriel Hill
August 22, 1938 - June 3, 2024

With heavy hearts the family of Muriel Hill share the news of her passing.

Muriel, born Aug. 22, 1938, in Columbus County, passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2024, in Little River, S.C., at the age of 85. In addition to her parents, Palmer Curtis and Glennie Bell Ezzell, Muriel was preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Ezzell, Delma Ezzell and Wilma Horne. Muriel’s life was a testament to her remarkable spirit, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community.

Muriel spent her professional years as a dedicated and passionate realtor in Columbus County, where she helped countless families find their dream homes. Her work was not just about property; it was about building connections and creating lasting memories for those she served.

Outside of her career, Muriel was a vibrant soul with a love for flower gardening. She enjoyed spending time with the garden club, sharing her knowledge and passion for nature’s beauty. She cherished her moments with friends and family, always making time to visit with elderly residents at nursing homes, bringing them joy and companionship. An avid lover of the outdoors, Muriel found peace and happiness under the sunshine, whether she was walking or simply enjoying the fresh air.

Muriel found joy in playing Rummikub with her social club, where her competitive spirit and laughter could always be found. As a devoted Sunday school teacher, she inspired many with her faith, kindness, and wisdom. Thanksgiving was Muriel’s magnum opus. She would cook for upwards of 45 people, each dish seasoned with a pinch of love and a dash of her generous spirit. She never missed an opportunity to give of herself, and those who were lucky enough to know her felt the warmth of her kindness.

To celebrate Muriel’s remarkable life we will gather at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at First Baptist Church, 412 N. Madison St. in Whiteville. We request the joy of your company in bright colors, reflecting her vibrant spirit and love of flowers.

She is survived by her loving son, Alan Wilson; daughters, Teresa (Jim) Baldwin and Pat (Bob) Weir; her treasured seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her dear sister, Barbara Ann Gore; and all of her beloved nieces and nephews.

Muriel Hill’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and a zest for life that touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with fondness and admiration.

If so inclined, in lieu of flowers, please donate to First Baptist Church in Whiteville or a charity dear to you.
