It is with deepest sorrow we announce that Nicholas Lee Hedgpeth, better known as Nick, of Beaufort, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the young age of 39. He was born in Berlin, Germany while his dad served in the Armed Forces, on Tuesday, September 13,1983 to Jackie Kiernan Collins and the late Arnold Hedgpeth, who passed away in November 2022.
Nick was our most beloved son, father, brother and friend who was the shining light in our lives. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.
In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, best known for his Native American cuisine and he was an avid fisherman, once having caught a fish in a house water drain. Nick was proud of his heritage, having been English and Native American where he was a member of the Haliwa Saponi Tribe.
In addition to his mother, left to cherish his memory are his sons, Nick and Jason; brothers, Joe and Daniel; fiancé, Tamala; and by many extended family members and friends.
A private service will be held at a later date and details announced by the family.
Nick was much loved by everyone he knew, especially those closest to him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Nick has had, his presents all over Hollister with family and friends. I do remember the first time we met ,was on Mills Road. Your dad and my dad were friends so every time y’all came home to Hollister, we would hang out so many laughs, especially around Powwow . We always called you skateboarder Nick, you had so many tricks you would show us. Lol you will truly be missed. RIP ❤️
I’m truly lost for words, so many memories via FaceTime and messages. We may of been in different places but the humour, laughs and speaking of family life will never be forgotten. You was the 1st person to take me round Walmart via FaceTime! What an experience. You will truly be missed nick! Go ride those skateboards up above until we meet again R.I.P cuz love you Danielle and boys xx
I can’t type because I can’t see for the tears. I pray that God comforts all who are touched by this earth shaking loss. Nick never made me feel weird and was a friend when I had very few. Great guy.
Nick, you are hands-down, the most pure soul I’ve had the gift of knowing. From our first fishing trip together to our last cup coffee we instinctively knew what the other needed. You always smiled No matter what you had cut open, scraped or burnt lol. You’re chefing it up for your old man and my brother, I’ll be thinking of you always until we meet again. Thank you for being you Nick
