Paul (Speedy) Yocum June 11, 1957-February 18, 2023
Formerly of Catawissa PA; Carolina Shores, NC 2009
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Speedy Yocum into the arms of our Lord on February 18, 2023.
He is happily reunited with his mother Elsie, his father Paul Sr. (Shrimp) and his infant son Benjamin.
He is survived by his loving wife Cindy (Mrs. Speedy), his son Ethan and wife Ashley, his stepson Nicholas and wife Melissa, stepson Joshua and his 8 grandchildren. He is survived by his brother John and wife Theresa of Catawissa; his dear Aunt Maryann Voystock of Philadelphia and a dear family friend Mary Becker. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Ken Prusiensky and his wife Pamela of Charlotte, NC.
Speedy was a devout, kind, loving and humble husband, father and grandfather. Speedy never met a stranger, he was an instant friend and could make friends at the gas pump. He lit up a room with his infectious laugh and his unique sense of humor. He was known by his family for his “speedyisms” along with his poorly-told jokes. He was loved by all and touched everyone’s heart and will be missed dearly.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday February 27, 2023 at 12:00 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 304 Slabtown Rd., Catawissa, Pa.
Visitation will be at 11:00 am at the church prior to the noon service. A graveside service will be private and held at a future date.
Refreshments will immediately follow the funeral at Ponduce Farms, 270 White Church Rd., Elysburg, Pa.
In lieu of flowers Speedy has requested donations to any of the following charities: Tunnels-to-Towers, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Shriner’s Hospitals.

The world has lost an incredible life. Speedy was such a wonderful person and I always enjoyed being around you two and our family. You seemed to compliment each other so well and shared so much life together. My heart is truly broken for you and Ethan, Nick and Josh. I know you have great memories with him that will stay with you forever and bring you comfort during this sad and difficult. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you.
How truly blessed are you to found a love that it makes saying goodbye so hard❤️Praying that you will find peace in remembering your joy. Love you.
Prayers to the whole family. I am so sorry for your loss. I will remember Speedy with a smile on his face, because I never saw him without one. I hope he is laughing and reminiscing with loved ones in Heaven. I’m sure Rick was waiting to welcome him with a cold beer. May he rest in peace painfree. Hugs to all.
