Paul D. Gibson, of Charlotte, NC a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2024, at his home in Oak Island, NC, at the age of 84.
Born on May 21, 1939, in Tazewell, VA, to the late Ellis F. and Nannie F. Gibson. Paul led a life filled with simple joys and cherished moments. He found great pleasure in traveling the country, camping under the stars, and hiking through nature’s beauty. A lover of bluegrass and country music, Paul could often be found strumming his guitar or engaging in friendly card games with family and friends.
Paul was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeanette Gibson, his daughter Kathy Smith, daughter-in-law Teresa Gibson, grandchildren Nicole (Heriberto)Marin, Daniel (Leslie)Smith, Benjamin (Ashley)Smith, Rebekah (Steven)Hunter, Garrett Gibson, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Phillip Gibson of Ocala, FL, and sister JoAnna Brown of Swords Creek, VA.
In his passing, Paul is reunited with his son, Donald “Dee” Gibson, great-grandson Carrigan Hunter, brothers George, Bill, Kenneth, and Shadrach Gibson, and sisters Mary Sparks, Jane Conn, Juanita Helias, and Betty Virginia Gibson, son-in-law, Leonard Smith
A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1 PM, with a visitation one hour prior at Believers Bible Chapel, 13531 Lancaster Highway, Pineville, NC 28134. Rex Trogdon and Donnie Preslar will be officiating.
The family would like to thank Danny Griffin for his faithfulness in consistently calling Paul which provided laughs and enjoyment, additional we thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their superior care.
Paul will be remembered for his kind heart, love for music, and adventurous spirit. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived and the love of those who cherished him. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to St. Jude’s Research or a charity of your choice.
