In Loving Memory of Rachel Faye Masimore: Honoring a Life of Kindness and Strength
Born on November 15, 1942, in Benson, NC, Rachel Faye Masimore was a remarkable woman who touched many lives throughout her journey. With a career that began at Bruce’s Coiffure in Baltimore, MD, Rachel honed her skills and developed a deep love for her craft. Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, she soon opened her own salon, Crown and Glory, a beloved establishment in the community. Her dedication and commitment to excellence led her to acquire another salon, Allure, in Lutherville, MD.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rachel found solace and joy in various interests. Gardening was one of her passions, whether tending to her own plants or sharing her green thumb with the community. Cooking was another avenue for her to express love and bring happiness to those around her. Through these acts of nurturing, Rachel truly lived her purpose – to please others and make their lives brighter.
Rachel’s involvement with The Woman’s Club of Clayton, NC, and Main Street Garden showcased her commitment to community and her desire to uplift others. She understood the importance of creating spaces for growth, connection, and empowering women.
On February 13, 2024, we bid farewell to Rachel in Bolivia, NC, as she peacefully left this world. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Francis; second husband, Gwyn R. Gibson, Jr.; and her third husband, David R. Masimore. Rachel was also preceded by her brothers, John and Lloyd Raynor, as well as her sister, Madine Price.
Rachel Faye Masimore leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. She is survived by her two daughters, Rashelle A. Itter and Melissa R. Francis, who carry on her spirit and values. Her two grandchildren, Micaela R. Itter and Brandon R. Burton, as well as her great-grandson, Logan R. Paul, will forever cherish the memories they shared with their beloved grandmother. Rachel is also survived by her loving sister, Linda G. Parker, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In honor of Rachel’s life and to carry on her spirit of compassion, we have established a crowdfunding campaign to support The Woman’s Club of Clayton, NC – a charity that was dear to her heart. Donations made in Rachel’s name will help continue the club’s mission to empower women, foster personal growth, and make a positive impact in the community.

The garden already misses Rachel and so do I. So many hours , weeks , days we spent as a team under Rachel’s direction. Melissa had the same drive for that garden that was starting to drive us all crazy. Melissa you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers as well as the rest of your family as you make your way through this process.
The garden already misses you Rachel and Melissa too. Your work and dedication to that garden was beyond what any of us could aspire to. I will miss you my friend
Rachel was a dear friend and taught me so much about gardening and cooking but most importantly about kindness to others. I am proud and grateful to have called her my friend. She will be missed.
Rachel was one of the kindest and welcoming members of the TWCC to me a newbie. Her generous spirit went beyond her club activities. She graciously welcomed to her koi pond two goldfish my granddaughter won at the state fair. Usually those fish die not long after they get transferred to a bigger tank, but they survived and grew too big for their tank. Rachel welcomed Bubbles and Peaches to her pond and sympathized with Brenna as she shed tears saying goodbye to her little fish. A sweet memory for us and a lesson in kindness and compassion from Rachel. Rest in peace sweet lady.
I met Rachael thru the Womans Club and she lived around the corner from me. She was a wonderful person and a good friend. I worked with Rachael on several Womans’ Club projects and she gave 100% of her time and expertise. I miss her and know what a loss for your family this is. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
Rachel was such a a giving person. She welcomed me to The Woman’s Club when I joined and became my friend. We worked closely when I was the Rental Custodian and also for the first Small Town Gala. She always wanted to help, even when she was very sick. The Gardens and the Woman’s Club have very large shoes to fill. I will miss you, my friend.
Rachel & I were “lifelong” friends, since I was 17 and she was 21-22 at that time. We were close throughout our entire life and she was my very best friend and a most honorable and remarkable woman…… I’m lost for words and will never stop missing my dearest friend that I deeply loved so very much.
Rachel was a wonderful lady and so giving of her time the Woman’s Club of Clayton. She was ever present in all activities that our club participated in and then some!
It wasn’t until much later that I learned that Rachel and my husband went to the same school and farmed on very close farms. Although Rachel was quite a bit older than phil, I’m sure that their paths crossed because Meadow School was grades 1-12 back then!
As I can fondly hear my husband Phil say, “Meader where it’s better!”
You’re in my thoughts and prayers Melissa and family!
In loving memory of my dear friend, Rachel. We shared many laughs over the years and countless hours communicating via phone and text reminiscing about cherished memories. Our bond began in 1995 when I walked into Crown & Glory looking for an available styling station. Without hesitation, you welcomed me in, and from that moment on, our friendship blossomed. Our last text exchange was on 3 February, and now, as I find it hard to express how much you will be missed. Rachel, you were more than a friend – you were family. Your departure leaves a void that words can not fill.
You ere called by the almighty to finish your work in his holy place where there is eternal peace and no more pain and suffering. Though we part ways for now, I hold onto the hope of meeting you there some day in that beautiful shore of the sweet by and by. Your kindness, love, and dedication touched the lives of so many. Rachel, take your well deserved rest.
Until we meet again, my dear friend and sister.
Love, Irma
