Rebecca Prince, a remarkable woman full of life and laughter, passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on September 12, 1953, in Washington State, Rebecca spent her early years becoming a true Pacific Northwesterner before eventually moving to Southport, NC, in 2018.
Her career as an EMT for the fire department in East Olympia, Washington, showcased her dedication to helping others and her ability to stay calm under pressure – traits that served her well both professionally and personally. But it wasn’t all serious business for Rebecca; she was a woman of many passions and pursuits.
An avid fisherwoman with an eye for painting landscapes, Rebecca could often be found casting a line or wielding a paintbrush, capturing the beauty of nature on canvas. Her sense of humor was legendary – sharp, witty, and always able to bring a smile to those around her. Rebecca was also an enthusiastic member of the CB radio club, where she made countless friends and kept conversations lively.
Known for her directness, you always knew where you stood with Rebecca. Her honesty and straightforwardness were qualities that endeared her to many and ensured that there was never a dull
moment in her company.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Prince. She leaves behind a loving family: Her husband of 48 years Jim; her children, Scott Prince and his wife, Jeannine, Jessica Harris and her husband, Blake, and Mark Prince; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly and treasure the memories of her spirited presence.
Though she may have cast her last fishing line and painted her final masterpiece, Rebecca’s legacy of humor, honesty, and zest for life will continue to inspire all who knew her.
