Richard “Rich” Tunno, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2024, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 90. Born on January 1, 1934, in Beaver Falls, PA, Rich lived a life full of love, dedication, and adventure.
With a career spanning several decades, Rich proudly worked as a Machinist with B&W Steel in Pennsylvania. His expertise and commitment to his craft were admired by many, but it was his zest for life outside of work that truly defined him.
Rich embraced every moment with a spirit of enthusiasm and joy. His passion for hunting deer, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles was contagious. As a past President of the Bradford Snowmobile Club, he led with pride and inspired countless individuals to share in his love for the outdoors. Boating adventures were another treasured pastime, where Rich found serenity on the water, often accompanied by family members who shared in these joyful excursions.
Family was at the heart of Rich’s life. He cherished every moment spent with his daughters, Cindy Young, Kimberly Metheny, and Tina Tunno. His six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren brought immense joy to his days, and he took great pride in watching them grow and thrive. Rich’s legacy of love and strength lives on through them.
Rich was also an exceptional tradesman, whose skills extended beyond his professional life. He could often be found working on projects, always ready to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge with others.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Shirley; his daughter Linda Tunno; and his siblings Yvonne, Bobby, and Eugene, Rich is now reunited with those he dearly missed. He leaves behind his surviving siblings, Louise, Joseph, Sereta, Sarah, James, and Cheryl.
A Memorial service to celebrate Rich’s remarkable life is being planned for a later date. His family invites all who knew him to join in honoring a man whose life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
In memory of Rich, let us all strive to live with the same passion, love, and dedication that he exemplified every day. May his spirit continue to inspire us, and may we carry forward the lessons he taught through his actions and his heart.
