Robert “Bob” Adlis Taylor of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the age of 73. After several months of declining health due to cancer, he died peacefully without pain or complaint.
Robert was born in Burbank, California on October 16, 1948 to father John Robert Taylor and mother Hattie Adlis Taylor. The oldest of two children, Robert grew up in Sacramento, California where he was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Health and Safety Studies at California State University Sacramento. He retired from the State of California as a Training Manager, worked for a time as a real estate agent, and was actively involved in volunteering with Sacramento’s world-famous Dixieland Jazz Festival. In his free time, he enjoyed home improvement projects, watching auto racing, and spending time with his friends and family.
Robert married his beloved wife Martha McClintock Taylor in 1994 and the couple relocated to North Carolina, living first in Benson and later in Wilmington. Robert was known for his fun-loving sense of humor and zany jokes. He attended Water of Life Lutheran Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Marilyn Joan Taylor. He is survived by his daughter, Erin Rachel Taylor and her mother, Barbara Taylor Miller, his step-son, Robert Joseph Sloan and his wife, Lora Porter Sloan, and his step-grandchildren, Christopher Kyle Sloan and Kyndal Nicole Sloan.
Family Members will be scattering Robert’s ashes at sea in a private ceremony. Anyone wishing to memorialize Robert with a charitable gift is directed to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, an organization that served Robert at the end of his life.
