In  nearly 50 years of nursing, she dabbled in many fields.  Maternity, family practice, podiatry, geriatrics, cardiology, oncology, and med surg. Med Surg being her favorite at Upstate and Duke.

She dedicated her life to nursing and her family. It was hard to keep her away from her patients. She was always offering to work extra shifts or stay late to make sure they were well cared for and never alone.

When not with her patients or her grandchildren you  would find her outside in her flower beds pulling plants that she thought were weeds to only learn later that she left the weeds. She loved relaxing in the warm sun. You could also find her hanging out with her chickens, kune kune pigs and her 3 beloved pups. She loved “helping” her granddaughter with her horse, Vixen. and helping Sierra feed the barn. Nana always got stuck doing hay.

Before the love of her life passed away in 2012 you would find her by his side building their drag cars, going to IHRA races, spending time with their  4 grandchildren and being a beach bum in Florida. Her glowing demeanor, infectious smile and laugh warmed those around her. She will never be forgotten and is missed terribly.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.

Sincere condolences for the loss of one so special in the lives of so many. Know that the smiles, laughter, and kindness she always shared with others will be the forever memories of all who ever met her. May Roberta’s memories forever warm your hearts and bring smiles to your faces, even behind tears shed. Know that death was never God’s plan (Gen. 1:28; Rom. 5:12) so he gives us hope. (Acts 24:15; Ps. 37:11,29) Cherish the hope.

My prayer is for Roberta’s family and friends to find peace in memories of her. Roberta worked day shift and I was her relief for the night shift at Northchase. She was truly an exceptional nurse. I miss her terribly and will always remember her. My unit will never be the same without her. Rest peacefully my friend.
