After a brief and courageous battle with advanced cancer Steve passed away peacefully at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington.

 Steve was born in Portland, Maine on February 27th 1952 the eldest son of  Susan A (Logan) and the  late Frank O Gardiner.

Steve was pre-deceased by his father Frank, his brothers Michael and Timothy Gardiner and his sister Terri Lydon. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Fiona (McLean) his mother Susan (NJ) his sister Mary Gordon (NJ) and his daughter Jamie Sterton (CA).

He graduated from Lawrence High School where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams and was a star quarterback for the school football team.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran.

He had a lifelong love of all sports especially his Washington Commanders, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. For many years he played ice hockey for fun. He always loved a challenging round of golf, spending time fishing by the ocean and watching sports with his buddies.

According to his wishes, and as he lived life, he didn’t want a fuss so no service will be held.
